Make available statistics to include officer use of force and calls for service while ensuring the resident’s privacy. One way this will be accomplished is through publishing an annual report.

Mental health calls have increased year after year for law enforcement agencies across the country. I will ensure that all deputies attend Crisis Intervention Training which is an intense, real-life, week-long training on how to best respond to mental health crises. I will work to collaborate with Carver County Behavioral Health to best serve residents dealing with mental health issues. I also plan to address and raise awareness about the importance of deputy mental health wellness.
It is imperative that law enforcement maintain a highly visible and robust relationship within our schools. Law enforcement can ensure increased safety and security through collaborative training, reviewing and providing threat assessments, and having deputies make regular appearances at the schools.
